Røros

In Røros, the idyll lurks around every corner. All the cute colourful wooden houses, the hills of the slag heap behind the copper smelter…. You really forget what hard working conditions prevailed here. The museum is worth seeing, it’s unbelievable how much wood was used in the mining industry. It’s just a shame that not a single mineral is on display and no one can tell me what kind of copper ore was mined and what type of deposit it is. Pretty lame for one of the few mining sites in the world that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Update: It is a VMS deposit.
