Lithium is fundamental for the production of light and powerful batteries, and with the advance of electric cars it gets even more important. The interactive plot (with data for 2022) shows the countries with lithium production (in most cases from brines in salt pans, see The World of Mineral Deposits), the tonnage and how it is used. Data is from USGS (2023). I estimated the missing value for the US based on export/import/consumption data.
This is my first sankey plot, made with plotly and python. To get it into wordpress, I uploaded the html file of the plot with ftp. Finally I entered the html tag for an iframe directly in the wordpress editor (I use classic editor in text mode).
