Looking like a stepped, truncated pyramid, this fascinating Buddhist temple (800 AD) has bell-shaped stupas standing in circles. Unfortunately, the weather is not quite as good as I had imagined for the dry season, but at least it only rains for an hour.
Borobudur is close to the old city of Yogyakarta. I also went to the smaller city Solo. Both have sultan’s palaces, markets, etc., but I am no longer easily amazed.
