San Augustin is in the south of Colombia, in a green mountain landscape. There are hundreds of pre-Columbian stelae, which were created between the 1st and 8th centuries AD: metre-sized violent-looking figures, grimaces with pointed teeth and ostentatious headdresses.
Nearby is the Puracé volcano. A little below, we walk through the Paramo landscape covered with strange plants and visit the geothermal field Termales de San Juan.
