It was only in the 18th century that this city was founded and later the Maharaja had the whole city painted pink just to welcome the Prince of Wales. Today, however, the pink is somewhere between orange and reddish brown.
Apart from the usual palaces, there is an interesting observatory here, where the Maharaja used to follow the course of the heavenly bodies on huge instruments made of stone. Otherwise, it’s rather shocking how many tourists roll through the sights.
